• Learn the psychological and counseling ethics, using the codes of ethics and guidelines of the ACA and the APA
• Evaluate philosophical models of ethical reasoning and models of ethical decision-making
• Consider ethical issues in psychotherapy, counseling, assessment, teaching and supervision, research, the law and state boards
• Learn the theories of obligation
• Learn which areas the ACA’s Code of Ethics provides more specific guidance than the APA’s “Ethical Principles”
• Recognize some shortcomings in using professional ethics codes in the decision-making process
• Recognize ethically problematic multiple relationships for therapists
• Learn what sanctions a state board can impose if an ethical complaint is verified
